"Love Me Again" is a hitting song by English vocalizer John Newman. The vocal was released every bit a digital download in Europe on 17 May 2013, except for the United Kingdom where information technology was released on xxx June 2013 as the lead unmarried from his debut studio album, Tribute (2013). The song was written by Newman and Steve Booker and produced past Booker and Mike Spencer. The song was subsequently featured on the soundtrack for video game FIFA 14.

It was nominated for the Brit Honor for British Single of the Yr at the 2014 BRIT Awards[i] and nominated for the 2014 Ivor Novello Award for All-time Song Musically and Lyrically.

Background [edit]

In an interview with Digital Spy, Newman was asked if he sensed that the song had something special about it in the studio. He said, "Aye. The guy I wrote it with (Steve Booker), we turned around and had massive grins on our faces thinking, 'At that place'southward something skillful here'. But y'all but never know how good it is, you know?".

Newman was also asked if information technology was hard to write the lyrics most dear and intermission-upwards, he said, "No, it's the only place where I really open upward to somebody, through my music. I'thou producing [the anthology] and writing it, it'south proficient. I similar to continue a hold of everything".[2]

With the chord progression of Gm—Bb—Dm—C, the vocal is written in the key of One thousand Dorian. The key signature is in D minor. Both are modes of F major, of which either one can exist used as the tonic note/chord, because, nevertheless, the F major chord is not present in the vocal.[3]

Music video [edit]

Two music videos, both with elements of Northern soul dancing, have been released for "Love Me Once more". One version[4] directed by Vaughan Arnell is based on the classic beloved story of Romeo and Juliet.[5] The adult female in the video, Juliet, is French actress Margaux Billard, advisedly watched over by her brother, Tybalt, played past Joseph Steyne. The Romeo, is British model Tommy-Lee Winkworth. This video ends in a cliffhanger equally they become run over by a truck and their fate remains unknown till Newman's follow-up single "Cheating", which starts with a newspaper article indicating that they had indeed survived the crash, which was a hit-and-run blow.

In popular culture [edit]

"Love Me Over again" was featured on the soundtrack of video game FIFA xiv,[eight] giving information technology a cult condition among FIFA fans, as well as the Federation's #WorldCupAtHome series, which opened FIFA'south annal during the COVID-nineteen pandemic. It also appeared in the closing credits of the 2014 science fiction film, Border of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. The song was besides featured on the American TV serial, Suits in the episode, "Buried Secrets", which aired on 6 March 2014, and in the opening scenes of the first episode of season 4, "One-Two-Iii Get", which aired 11 June 2014. "Dear Me Again" is also a playable song in Just Dance 2015. The song was also used every bit the theme to the telly evidence Whiskey Cavalier which debuted in Feb 2019 and concluded in May afterward i season.[9] In August 2020 and May 2021 it was used in Goggle box and radio adverts for National Rail.

The French aqueduct TF6 likewise used this song to shutdown its channel.
